Hey friends, here's a little blurb about what I'm up to this year. ‘Squares’ has always been a means to practice painting buds, and this year I am tackling a 36 - piece collection. I will be painting portraits of buds collected locally 3 times a month on a Livestream video through patreon (for now). 9 are already complete and posted here, with videos yet to be published. Each finished painting includes the label from the jar it came from, which includes harvest date, testing, and where the bud came from in terms of farm & dispensary. Stay tuned!
Square of the Rabbit: Phasing Through
“Square of the Rabbit” is a piece comprised of 625 two - inch mini paintings, which create a 25 x 25 square. I’m not the best at algebra, but numbers are pretty cool. These paintings were made through a pretty simple process, using a piece of a sponge as a stamp to create a base to work from. Unlike the rest of my cannabis paintings, at no point were any of these based on a specific, real life nug. I used acrylic paint and various forms of glitter. I had a simple goal; improve mental health by sticking to a routine and creating smaller and more abstract art. These are 25 different sets created systematically over the course of 2023. There is a representative from each set seen below.
They are adorable and accessible, and I will be posting a tutorial on how to make your own spongenugs in case you need to put nugs anywhere. Although the paints used in each set are the same, each nug is unique and special, and all together they are my biggest (625 paintings!) and smallest (2in x 2in!) “Squares” series ever! No AI used.
